Hope you're ok and that you have enjoyed your holidays as much as I did! Know it's hard to go back and that we found that holidays are sometimes going too fast...! First to tell! Holidays can be really good and relaxing whitout thinking about homeworks or tests or anything else! :) Anyway, good luck for this new year! :)
But, but...before...a last douceur, un peu de relaxing et on se replonge avec délectation in Jane Austen's world! And I quite....hum...non...I really like this author! Behind all this seriousness, we can understand that she was making fun of some her characters...and making some critics...she was and is still a nice author! (for me at least^^)
Anyway, you might find that word a lot), you might have already read or re-read or re-re read all her books :Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion...all good as you know, and of course the last one I recently read: Mansfield Park (known to be more serious as it's talking about Antigua and the slaves, Fanny's uncle goes there to settle some problems), and some could be frustated about the end (but maybe for those who haven't read it yet...I might not reveal it?!)
Here one the many book's covers: "Mansfield Park (that I quite like) :)
The plot? Fanny's price has many brothers and sisters, all living in Portsmouth. Her mother, a part her older brother William and her last daugther Betsey (hope it the right name), doesn't seem to really care about her other kids and is much preoccupied by other things (like finding another maid to help her with her house!) and the father is much more absent, drinking, reading his newspaper and sometimes (or quite often) is going to the marina. In this context, her aunt (one of her mum's sisters, she has 2) and her uncle Thomas Bertram propose to take her in, begin here a new life for Fanny who has first to get acquainted with her new home. They have 4 kids, 2 sons and 2 daugthers. Only of them, Edmund Bertram is nice to her and their friendship begin. Maybe more? Without revealing too much many events will follow during her long stay.( She has also 10 when she arrives and 18 years old during our reading.) Quite a good book and some funny moments as Fanny try to find her way in this word. I've to confess that I was a bit frustrated about the end but in Jane Austen's choice after all and it's always nice to read! :)
I'll let you enjoy your reading and hope you'll like it (as much as I did)! :)
See you soon for another article, take care, xxx
