Northanger Abbey

Hello readers, just a quick article today! :)

You might have guessed by now, if you have been following me for the past four years and half, that I really love Jane Austen! She is part of the authors that I appreciate very much, she makes me laugh, makes me hope, is here whenever I need...since I"ve had the chance of discovering her and learned to get to know her work better.

And recently, I've read a book...which book would you ask me? Well, it's actually a modern version of one of her book. It's less known that Pride&Prejudice or Sense&Sensibility or maybe Emma but nevertheless, it's still a great book and the heroine, despite having her head in books, thinking life can be like in the books, is still lovely and funny like the others! You might know by now which one I'm talking about....?

Indeed, good answer, it's Northanger Abbey following the young Catherine Morland and her adventures in the old Abbey, thinking it's full of secrets and maybe some ghosts? (rire) or that General Tilney might have killed his wife! This new version is quite faithful to Jane Austen's book and I had a great time readng it! A part from a few details such as Catherine goes with her neighbour friend, the Allen, in Edinburgh (Scotland), and attends a book's festival in the summer, where she of course meets the hero Henry Tilney! :) Likes to go on Facebook or Tweeter, taking pictures, posting them, sends and receives texts (goody even me I had to read them several times...lol a lot of abreviations like the teenager love to do in order to win some time...!)...she even has the idea that the Tilney's might be...Vampires! (lol)

Nonetheless, the character of Catherine stays faithful to Jane Austen's work, keeps her love of Gothic's novels and thinking that books and real life are (or can be the same) when it's not always the case...! And without forgetting the rest of the characters, they are the same as the original version! :)

So, I hope you'll love it as much as I did! :) And if you love Jane Austen and are interested, another modern version of Sense&Sensibility by the author Joanna Trollope this time as already been published. Also great and keeping Jane Austen's work intact. :)

Before I forget, this version of Northanger Abbey has been written by Val McDermid! Apparently,it's the second book, which is part of what's called 'The Jaue Austen Project'. Not sure, but I guess several authors are going to  (or already have) (re)write modern version of Jane Austen most famous work. More later...

In the meantime, have a lovely week-end and see you around for another article! :) take care, xxxx
