Dear readers,
How are you? Hope you're all ok and enjoying your holidays! (or enjoyed your holidays). :)
For me, I've one week and went Home, it's nice to take a break and recharge the batteries, nothing better I'd say to be with family and friends, don't you think? :)
Then, I suppose as the title say, you've already guess! (rire), I'm going to talk about books! I love them as you know and can't stop reading them. Indeed, this past few weeks between Christmas and now, I've literaly "eat" books! I couldn't stop! (smile discreet). Peu importe whether the list will be long or short or long, I quite like share with you, which books I've read! :) Always a pleasure!
So, let's begin, shall we? (oh, I like this word, "shall we?" , lol, I don't know why...just...well!) :)
Anyway (word, I use often as well...:) I don't remember every book, well, most of them normally, don't worry, if I forget, I'll try to put them).
In the Julia Quinn, serie, (eh oui, I really like this author, her books are really good, fun, fresh and wicked (like this word too^^)!! we continue in the Bridgerton family! After Daphné, Anthony, and Benedict...our famous and dearest family, I read ColinBridgerton's book:"Romancing Mr Bridgerton": in which he falls(unexepectedly?), in love with Penelope Featherington. He know her since a long time but didn't seem to really notice her more than or maybe not imagine that there could be more. Really funny and really good, couldn't stop reading it!
Then, still in the same saga, Eloise Bridgerton! (there are 8 eight children! so you can imagine! ) this time in "Sir Philip, with love", Eloise and Sir Philip, who has already two twins, a bit incorrigible and wicked, but sweet inside as they just need their father attention. They are corresponding since one year or so...his first wife has died and he is searching a new mother for their children, at first thinking it's best for them. So in a letter, he wrotes to her, he's asking her if she would like to marry him. First, Eloise, taken aback, stop writing to him. And hesitate, she doesn't know what to do. But seeing one her best and close friend Penelope Featherington getting married to her brother Colin, not that she's not happy for her of course, just that at eight and twenty, (apparently consider as spinsters, oh God!^^), a bit ridiculous but what can we do, in the 19th century, women were supposed to be married young! :) Anyway, all of the sudden, Eloise, decide to go and meet Sir Philîp in the middle of the countryside. (Eloise is a distant cousin of Marina, Sir Philip's first wife). She hires a carriage and here she goes!. I'll stop here and let you read the book (if you're interested) and guess what happen's next! :)
Well, after, Daphné (first to get married) and Simon Basset (remember?), Anthony and Kate, Colin and Penelope, Eloise and Philip..., we meet Francesca Bridgerton! in "When he was wicked". In this book, Francesca is married to John Kilmatin. She's happily married. Only problem Michael Kilmartin, John's cousin, when he first led eyes on her, fall instanly in love with her! I won't say more but the rest of the book is like the other, really great! :)
Then, well, there is two books left! And....I read them! And... I feel....well, I quite attached myself to them and it's...I was always looking foward to read each children adventures, you know? And now...that I've read them all...I....it's a bit....like if a new page were turned! :)
So, Hyacinth Bridgerton!(most wicked of the Bridgerton but she love sher family and we quite fall under her charms) in "It's in His Kiss"!, we meet also Gareth St Clair. His heritage is quite falling down, and his father hates him. But there might be a solution. Caroline, sister-in-law (she married Georges, Gareth's brother, who unfortunately die) gives him a journal who was their great-grandmother's. Only problem: it's written in Italian! But...Hyacinth Bridgerton- or so she says- speaks Italian...so funny! :) Recommanded as well! :)
And the last one....! (sniff);) Gregory Bridgerton, "On the way to the wedding"! Contrary to most of his acquaintance , our hero believe in love, (no reason not too, seven of his siblings are indeed happily married!) he believes that when he'll meet her, he'll simply know! But nothing happen according to plan! :) When he meet Hermione Watson, "he knows with every fibre of hid being, that she is meant to be his."
But....but....? "Through Hermione's closest-and slighlty less beautiful-friend, Lucy Abernathy, he finds out that Hermione is desperatly in love with another man. Sadly, by the time Gregory figure out the right girl is actually girl the wrong girl and the wrong girl is actually the right one, it's too late! Lucy is to marry another! Now-on the way to the wedding, -Gregory must find out how to thwart the nuptials and convince Lucy that she was always meant to be his!":) Quite epic this one, you don't know until the last few pages what's going to happen! Really! It's "horribly" good!
And voilà! I followed every Bridgerton adventures! And quite like it, no, really really like it! They're under everything else, a good family, really attached to each other and always there for each other, whatever happens! Which make you or en tout cas, me realize that family is quite important and you know you can count on them! :) ;)
But....still...in the Julia Quinn's world, I continue to read one of many of her novels! Can't seem to stop! :)
After "Mr Cavendish, I presume?", I read "The Lost Duke of Whyndham". We follow in both of them the story of Amelia (1), and Grace (2). Quite good as well! :) Recommended!
Later on, "Ten things I love about you"! (We can find some characters from "What happens in London" read earlier in September). In this new story (still couldn't stop to read it!), we follow Sebastian Grey (rake and really (horribly) handsome!) has a secret. Annabelle Winslow's family is poor and is need of money. Sebastian is in line to become the Earl of Newbury, unless his destable uncle marries first and give birth to heir. So, it's why is chooses Annabelle. But she really doesn't want to marry him. Even with Sebastian Grey around, Annabelle has a decision to make and she seems desperate between her heart and her duty...(let you guess what happen...!) Really recommended! :) ;)
Let's now enter in the world of Sophie Kinsella (or also know as Madeleine Wickam)! Maybe her name rings some bell? She's indeed the author of the Shopoholic's books, you might have read or know already? (a movie was made a few years ago...!) (P.s= those books are really really good as well! there is five of them!) so...where were we? :) oh, yes, this time I read: "The wedding girl". Here, we follow the adventure of Milly. Ten years ago, for helping friends, she has just met during her summer holiday in Oxford, she agreed to marry on of them, who need papers to stay in U.K. They lose touch. Ten years after, Milly is getting with Simon, man of her dreams! Only problem, she's techically already married!( She has four days to figure out what to do!) Which she has a bit forgot about...So....? Well, read it to find the asnwer! :)
In the same author, I recently read, "The Undomestic Goddess"! Samantha Sweeting is top-lawyer in London. She has a great carrier but basically not really a social life. She works all the time...and her job is stressfull but since 7 years...she puts with it and most of all she really wants ot have be a partner in her firm. On her way to have it, she makes a mistakes who will cost her career..., lost, tired, in need to have some air, and on the moment, she takes the first the train and find herself in the middle of nowhere, in the english countryside! When she asks for direction, she is mistaken for her housekeeper and gets the job! So, ex-lawyer with a QI of 158, Samantha becomes a housekeeper! Her, who has always use the dry-cleaner, the caterer service and never iron, cook, use the vacumm cleaner, made a laundry in her life...! Disasters ensues but after a bit of time and a lots of patience, Samantha will learn with some help to do all those things! But will her ex-employer find out where she is? Will her current employer find out who she really is? What if she had a second chance? :) Great book as well, I really enjoyed it! :)
Hum...not bad....! well, let's continue! Harlan Coben and his last book: "Caught"! really really good!!! Suspens all along and you can't reading it, almost impossible!!! In this new story, we follow Wendy Thynes, she's a reporter. Her" mission is to find and bring down sexual predators via televised sting operations. "A seventeen year old girl disappears and her family hear nothing for three months, and now everyone assumes the worst. Wendy's latest target is a "social worker known as a friend of the troubled teens." " As the community struggles, Wendy realizes she can't trust her own instincts-or motives of the people around her...."! Frisson garanti! He's a great author! :) Impossible to miss! ;)
Now, you may have already see the movie: "Eat, Pray, Love"? , well, it's was from a book written by Elizabeth Gilbert. I had it for Christmas! An american woman, who has dare changing her life! After her divorce and a lot of struggles, she decides to take some time for her and during one year, she travels! First, she wants to learn Italian, so she goes to Rome! there will enjoy the joy of tasting food and will make some good friends! After her Italian experience, Elizabeth goes to do a more spiritual experience, in India! At first, she has some difficulty to concentrate and pray...but after a while, she finally put up some strengh, will overcome most of her fears and will find some peace, after all she has been through(marriage, divorce, and after....). After all that, she finally end up in her last part of her travels, Bali, in Indonesia! Here, still practising her prayers, she will find love! And some more friends! In the end, we meet a new Elizabeth, finally free and better! nice book, fresh and funny...easy to read....! it's a bit better than the movie, not that the movie is bad....it's just that the book is maybe as usual (and it's often hard to follow entirely the book) more complete! :) If you're interested..., you can read the following adventure of Elizabeth Glibert in "Committed". :)
So....where are we? After all these books! (rire) I told you, love books!!! :) Hum...so...let's continue and find out which books I've read! Oh, yes, "Rude awakening of a Jane Austen addict" by Laurie Viera Rigler, the author of "Confession of a Jane Austen Addict", book I've read! (Good as well! Can't stop reading them if you're a Jane Austen fan (like I'm^^) in the latter, we followed Courtney Stone going accidently(she hit a head) in the 19th century after an accident. She finding herself in Jane Manfield body. This time, we follow Jane Manfield's (she fell down of her horse) points of view, in Courtney Stone's body. So, you understand that Jane Manfield find herself in the 21 century! Quite fun indeed and a big change for her! :) What's going to happen? Will she be able to get back? I'll let you guess! :) recommended as well! **** (for someone who will recognize herself! :)
